Late final month, friends of Casco Bay held its Volunteer Appreciation Occasion and Members Meeting in the fancy new Pierce Atwood headquarters on the Portland waterfront. There, the organization paid certain notice to its milestone 20th year monitoring water excellent in Casco Bay and serving as a springboard for like-minded environmentalists with inclinations to test water elsewhere in southern Maine.

These volunteers have been monitoring water quality for years - many are pioneers.

Water purifiers can now produce pure drinking water at consistent quality - but there still needs to be safe water in the supply that we depend on the grow food.

Kudos!
